"Desserted" is the 20th episode of Season 2 and the 78th episode overall of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Cricket treats his family to dinner, but Bill is suspicious about how he plans to pay for it.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Cricket leading everyone, who he has blindfolded, as he reveals he has taken them to Crispy's, the biggest family restaurant in Big City. Cricket reveals that he plans to treat them all, paying for it himself. While Tilly, Nancy and Gramma are impressed, Bill is skeptic about how Cricket will pay for everyone; he says normal kids could never pay for their family's meal, though Cricket says he's "no normal kid."
After their table is ready, the family meets their waitress Gina, who also likes to think of herself as a "friend". As they head to their table, Bill is still concerned that the idea of Cricket paying for everything is still weird, but the family doesn't care, as what Cricket is doing is out of kindness.
When they get to their table, Gina asks them what they want, and Cricket orders everything on the menu, which excites everyone. Cricket orders a bacon cheese burger for Bill, who is freaking out about how Cricket is going to pay for all the meals. Nancy is upset about Bill's behavior, and Bill apologizes for the way he acted, and decides to go along with the idea as everybody congratulates Cricket for the meal. The family begins to chow down on their numerous delicacies.
After the family ate everything on the menu, Gina arrives, suggesting dessert. Cricket secretly orders something, claiming it's a little bit of ice-cream... that everyone has to eat. It is revealed through a musical number that Cricket has ordered the Crispy Sundae Platte; if Cricket and his family can eat the whole thing in an hour, then their meals are free.
The family can’t believe that Cricket has done this, and asked him why he didn't tell them so they wouldn't be full. Cricket explains he wants them to get their fill as he plans for them to eat it and wouldn't have to pay for them. Bill is about to pay for everything, but he learns that Cricket was one step ahead of the idea and removed all of Bill's money and replaced it with fake money he made just in case they decided to back out. Left with no other option, the family plans to eat the whole thing. After a while, the family has became too full, or has brain-freeze (in Tilly's case) as Cricket asked Gina if she can cut them some slack so they don't have to eat it all, but Gina turns hostile. She tells Cricket he and his family must eat the sundae, and gives him the rule book, quoting it.
Upon looking at the book, Cricket discovers a loophole as the rules state that if the sundae is contaminated, they have to throw it away. He shoots a wad of spit at a nearby fly, causing it to fall on the sundae. Cricket calls in Gina, who sees the fly. She has the staff throw it away, but it turns out that the loophole has another loophole in the fine print stating that if the sundae is contaminated, they will get a new one and the contest will begin again from the beginning.
Unable to take the contest, the other Greens give up. Bill points out though what Cricket is doing is nice of him, the family has gotten sick due to him making them go through a shortcut and that there are no such thing as free meals. As Bill goes to talk to the manager about how they're going to pay, Cricket imagines the sundae coming to life, asking Cricket how he's going to earn it; seeing his family's plight and noticing Gina asking him to give up, he is determined, choosing to eat it all by himself.
As the family tries to gain money to pay for the meals, Tilly draws their attention to a now-bloated Cricket being cheered on by bystanders. Cricket is now bloated from eating all the ice-cream, drawing concerns from the family and Gina. However, he is able to finish the challenge in time, being the first person to ever complete the challenge and meaning he and his family eats for free. The Greens congratulate Cricket and are proud that he earned it thanks to him, and he responds with a big burp.
