"Dolled Up" is the 29th episode of Season 2 and the 87th episode overall of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
When Tilly and Nancy celebrate Saxon's birthday at a fancy doll store, they set their sights on a seat next to Cantaloupe Sinclair, the tea party's posh VIP.
Plot[]
The Greens are at Li'l Ladies to celebrate the birthday of Tilly's sack pal Saxon, who had insisted his birthday takes place here. Meanwhile, Bill goes to a doll house workshop, where he finds himself at home with all the tools, and Gramma takes Cricket to look at dolls from her time.
Tilly and Nancy arrive at the Tea Room, where the waiter tells them they have to wait an hour; suddenly another girl named Cantaloupe Sinclair and her friends Willow and Ashton arrive, and are immediately granted access because Cantaloupe is a member of the 'Lil Ladies club.
Meanwhile, Gramma shows Cricket around the nostalgia section, where Cricket quickly grows bored. He tries to use his imagination, but is snapped out of it by Gramma, who tells him not to, lest it goes wrong. Cricket and Gramma pass by dolls bearing Cricket's overalls, which gives Cricket the idea to swap places with one; Gramma is now lugging around the Cricket doll. However, the real Cricket is put into a box (this ironically happens after he says "No one can box in ol' Cricket Green") and moved in a conveyor belt. Nearby, Bill is finishing up his dollhouse's framework; it seems to be very detailed and articulate.
Meanwhile, Tilly and Nancy have finally gotten a seat, all the way at the back; Tilly takes a glance at the fancy kids. Since their food won't be arriving any time soon, Nancy reveals she has brought Tilly's home-made muffins. They chow down on them, and Tilly decides to bring some muffins to the fancy kids. When Tilly arrives, muffins in hand, the fancy kids make fun of her; when Cantaloupe declares she wants one, her friends immediately declare they want one too. Cantaloupe is that impressed by Tilly and Saxon she offers her a seat. Tilly decides to take the plunge and sit with the fancy kids.
Back at the nostalgia section, a girl points out to her mother that Gramma is talking to the Cricket doll; when Gramma eyes "Cricket", she realizes she was duped. She arrives at where the boxed real Cricket is: at a display shelf full of other Cricket dolls. Just then, a toddler finds her way to the Cricket doll shelves, where she declares she wants the real Cricket. Meanwhile, as Tilly arrives, Cantaloupe dismisses Willow to make space for Tilly.
The toddler now really wants the real Cricket. Cricket apologizes, saying that "old dolls are cool, or whatever"; this is enough for Gramma to accept. However, the toddler really wants the Cricket; when Gramma tries to get her out, the toddler lets out a very loud screech.
Bill has finished his very detailed and immaculate doll house, with working electronics and real plumbing... all with one piece of wood. Bill comes across Cricket and Gramma, asking them what was going on. The toddler lays her eyes on the dollhouse, and now wants it. Bill decides to give the dollhouse to the toddler, who just jumps on it, breaking it.
Tilly is breaking the ice with Cantaloupe. She notices that Cantaloupe seems to be manipulating her friends to do her bidding, further alluded to when she calls Ashton a "lackey" and decides on the spot Tilly's muffins aren't great anymore. Cantaloupe reveals her motives; all this time, she's very manipulative, only getting her friends to do her bidding. Cantaloupe also reveals Tilly has been manipulated to sit with her, ditching Nancy to do so. Tilly takes a stand, declaring she's going back to Nancy. Just as she does so, she and Saxon are given a parting gift in form of a tea and a laugh, both from Cantaloupe.
However, Nancy is ready to strike back; she and Tilly instigate a large-scale food fight. Ducking underneath a table, Tilly realizes the error of her ways and makes up with Nancy. Mother and daughter then go out into the food battlefield, food in-hand.
Bill, Cricket and Gramma are about to leave, having to leave Tilly and Nancy behind, but the girls have arrived. Ashton compliments Tilly's standing up to Cantaloupe, and offers her to have tea parties with him any time. Cricket remarks this is a "weird place".
