Big City Greens Wiki

The Greens' country farm is a location in Big City Greens. It was the Green family's original place of business prior to the pilot "Welcome Home", where they move to their current house in the Big City. It is located directly behind the Greens' country house in Smalton.

Following the Greens' move back to the country, it most likely reopened. Nancy is currently the sole keeper of the farm, with Nick Mulligan as her occasional co-worker.

Appearance[]

It's a regular red barn and to its left is a crop field. A house is located somewhere alongside with the barn.

Following Bill's re-purchase of the country house, the barn is now relocated behind the house with a slightly different appearance. It is bigger, more of a rusty red color, and has a vane on the roof. The sign is also recolored to be more of a darker green. It no longer has a field off to the left, and a silo stands to the right as well.

History[]

Family barn on fire

Some time when Cricket was a toddler, the barn caught on fire.

The farm was started up sometime around the 18th-19th century by Jerome Green and his son Bixby.

30 years prior to the events of the series, the Greens' farm was threatened to be sold by Mr. Quisling who wants to buy the entire land. Wanting to make more money to keep the farm going strong, Bill Green runs away and tries to take up jobs to make money, but to no avail. He eventually meets a girl named Nancy, who helps him swindle others into giving him their cash by swapping them with arcade tokens at an arcade in the soon-to-be constructed Big City. Unfortunately, this got them arrested, and Alice took Bill back home. Bill then decides to take up Mr. Quisling's offer, eventually resulting in Big City expanding and being built around the house and the farm being downsized, and soon Bill grew up, married Nancy, and started his own farm somewhere else in the country and gives birth to Cricket and Tilly.

When Cricket and Tilly were toddlers, the family barn caught on fire, and Cricket played in the ashes the following morning. Nancy soon finds an ash-covered puppy amongst the damage, and when they cleaned her off, her fur was revealed to be red. Nancy named the puppy Phoenix and gave her to Cricket, where they grew up together and became close friends.

About a year before the series in the summer, Cricket attempts to dig his biggest hole out in the forest, but ends up digging so much he cannot get out. Phoenix finds him, but instead of going for help, she jumps in with him instead. Fortunately, she left a fur trail when coming upon him, so the family was able to find him as well. Eventually, Phoenix left the farm and went to go live with Alice in Big City, as she wasn't seen with the Greens during their move. At some point, Bill and Nancy's marriage didn't work out due to her bad influence, so he divorces her and she now lives on her own.

Flashback of the country farm foreclosed

Some time after the divorce, the farm started losing popularity to various industrial farms such as a company called Mass Dairy Factory Farms, resulting in the family suffering financial debt. Nancy tried to rebel and release the cows as revenge, but she ends up getting arrested. As a result, the farm is foreclosed and sold to a wealthy family, and Bill and the kids had to move to the original Green house with Alice in Big City, where they continue their vegetable service from there.

The farm was eventually reopened around the time of "Dirt Jar", when Bill saw the Greens' old house up for sale and realizing it was never sold following the farm's foreclosure, prompting him to purchase it back resulting in the family moving back to the country in "The Move".

Following "Long Goodbye", Nancy is left in charge of the farm due to the Greens moving back to Big City with Alice, with the Greens coming to visit on a standard basis. As of "Bad Dad", Nancy's father Nick Mulligan moves in and joins the farm as her coworker.

Trivia[]

  • In its first mentioned appearance, Bill does not disclose how the farm was lost; the reasoning would be shown in "Greens' Acres" and "Chipocalypse Now".
