"Guiding Gregly" is the 12th episode of Season 4 and the 164th episode of Big City Greens overall.
Synopsis
Cricket & Remy try to teach Gregly how to make friends. Meanwhile, Bill goes around Big City to say hi to people.
Plot
It's Friendship Day as Cricket, Remy, Tilly, and Andromeda head to the community center to celebrate with everyone. The curmudgeonly Gregly arrives, despite claiming to hate the holiday, and even scoffs at Cricket and Remy's "Kranch" (ketchup and ranch combined). Gregly reveals the reason why he's here is because his mother asked him to make friends, but he doesn't have any because he is grumpy all the time. Cricket and Remy agree to be friends with him, but Gregly turns them down because he doesn't consider them "good" like Kiki, Benny, and Weezie; he cannot even bring himself to say anything nice to them and they are disgusted with his behavior. Gregly admits that he has a problem and, despite thinking Cricket is dumb, agrees to get help from him by becoming more agreeable. Meanwhile, Bill tells Gramma Alice that he is going to start his day off by saying hi to everyone in Big City. This turns out to be difficult as no one is interested in returning the compliment.
Cricket and Remy try training Gregly to be agreeable, believing that his issues come from hating everything. Every time he snaps, they toss Kranch into his mouth until he says something nice or encouraging. Eventually, Gregly tries talking to Kiki, Benny, and Weezie and manages to withhold saying anything negative or offensive to them. The more he plays with them, the more unhappy he looks. Cricket notices this and asks Tilly what would happen if he continued to agree to everything. Tilly explains that Gregly would most likely build up like a volcano and eventually explode from hiding his true feelings, scaring Cricket and Remy.
After having a chat with Alice, Bill realizes that he simply needs to find a better place to say hi to people, which in this case means driving all the way back to Smalton, which actually works. Gregly eventually explodes at Kiki, Benny, and Weezie and sulks. Cricket admits that he was wrong for trying to change him and says that he would probably be better hanging out with old people. This actually ends up being the solution all along as Gregly is able to be himself around the elders who share his similar views of everything. Gregly admits that while he still thinks Cricket is stupid, he does think that he actually offered a good idea for once and is finally happy.
