"Hard Bargain" is the 22nd episode of Season 4 and the 174th episode of Big City Greens overall.
Synopsis
The Greens get into crazy hijinks in a Smalton antique shop.
Plot
The Green clan is having pancakes for breakfast and chatting it up when Cricket decides to show off again by "cleaning" the plates by licking all the syrup off. When he downs the entire bottle, Cricket enters a sugar rush and breaks the syrup bottle. This gives Nancy the excuse for all of them to go out and buy a replacement at the cheapest place they can find: Smalton Thrift Barn. Cricket is kept on a leash, but as soon as they get inside, he cuts the rope and runs loose. Gramma Alice gets distracted by a knitting machine, Nick and Tilly come across a supposedly haunted doll, and Nancy finds a vintage misprinted oil can that is worth a thousand dollars.
Cricket starts to become drained, but after encountering a soda machine, drinks the aged soda and becomes crazy again. Nick starts to become frustrated by the doll's reappearance throughout the store, despite Tilly telling him to calm down. Nancy purchases the oil can and syrup bottle from the store owner Dorothy and starts a conversation with her. Dorothy's store is losing money and she has had hiccups for six days straight. Nancy begins to feel guilty about her purchase and has a conversation with herself. To calm Cricket down, Bill takes a newly knitted red blanket from Alice and uses it to coerce Cricket, wearing bull horns, away from the displays.
It is revealed that there are actually four creepy dolls and Bill attempts to save them all, as Nick claims that he wasn't actually scared. While Bill captures them, Alice yanks the blanket away, causing them all to fall and break. Nancy, feeling bad for Dorothy, decides to pay for them all. Afterwards, Cricket finally calms down from his sugar rush and is carried away by Bill. Nancy reveals that she will make up for the cost by selling the vintage can, an act that Nick feels apathetic about. Tilly, in her usual manner, took all four broken dolls and combined them into one horrifying monstrosity, much to Nick's horror.
