- Tilly being the "Wizard of Wind" and destroying the virtual farm via tornado is a reference to the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
- The Simulated Farm: Ultra Dull Edition sequences are in the style of the popular sandbox game Minecraft.
- Also, Simulated Farm’s gameplay and premise are references to the Farming Simulator series of games.
- Bill's quest to collect all the achievements in Simulated Farm is a reference to the hobby of collecting all the achievements in a particular game.
- The "Shut the Barn Door" achievement is a reference to how players can obtain achievements for doing mundane tasks in games. In Bill's case, this achievement is true to its name; Bill has to shut the barn door 30 times to get it.
- While admiring the sunset above his virtual farm, Bill's avatar suffers a glitch. Games are no stranger to glitches, which occur if a game is unpolished with bugs left unfixed before its worldwide release.
- In the game world, Tilly mashes buttons just to pet a baby lamb. Mashing buttons has been part of the fighting game space ever since its inception and has even made its way into mainstream video game genres.
- It can be assumed Tilly also inputted a secret code much the Konami code to become the "Wizard of Wind".
