Season 1 is the first season of Big City Greens. It premiered on June 18, 2018 with "Space Chicken/Steak Night", and ended on March 9, 2019 with "Cricket's Place/Volunteer Tilly".
Overview
The series' first season contains 58 episodes, most are 11 minutes but two are full-length, they are packaged into 30 half-hour episodes.
This season's guest voice cast includes Jon Hamm, Raven-Symoné, Busta Rhymes, Danny Trejo, Lorraine Toussaint, Jim Rash, Paul F. Tompkins, Lauren Lapkus, Andy Daly, Scott Aukerman, McElroy, Paul Scheer, Zeno Robinson, Colton Dunn and Anna Akana.
Throughout the season, the series had its first 3 holiday-themed episodes, such as the Halloween special in October, Thanksgiving-themed episode in November, and a Valentine's Day-themed episode in February 2019.
After the last episodes of 2018 ("Big Deal"/"Forbidden Feline") released, the series returned on January 11th, 2019, with the half hour-long special, "Uncaged", which focused on the return of the Greens' estranged matriarch Nancy Green, who previously appeared at the end of "Phoenix Rises". The season ended on March 9th, 2019, concluding with "Cricket's Place" and "Volunteer Tilly".
The season was released to Disney+ on November 12, 2019, the same day as the service's launch date, but in a slightly different order, sometimes changing the segments, to match the original "chronological" order envisioned by the Houghton Brothers.

Trivia
- While "Space Chicken" is the first aired episode of the series, "Welcome Home" is the intended pilot, in chronological order.
- "Space Chicken" was produced during the time period of 2014 to 2015, when the series was titled Country Club.
- The episodes are paired on Disney+.
- On Disney+, the order of episodes in Season 1 are switched around slightly, some changing their sister segments. According to Chris Houghton, the order of the episodes on Disney+ is the original chronological order the series was envisioned as; however, it is not the original production order.
- Originally, "Phoenix Rises" was intended to be as the season finale for season 1, this was before Disney ordered 10 additional episodes.
- "Uncaged" had the most U.S. viewers in the entire season, and the entire show.
- First seen in "Big Deal" and onward (with the exception of "Night Bill" and "Cheap Snake"), the characters have undergone a redesign; one detail in particular being their pupils have gotten noticeably smaller, especially Cricket's, Tilly's and Gramma's. According to Chris Houghton, he disliked this design and felt like it made the characters look too young. [36]
- However, their pre-2019 appearances are still seen during the intro.
- Most episodes of this season were produced in 2017 and 2018.
- This is the only season of a few things:
- The only season worked on and released before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
- The only season to premiere in summer, as all other seasons premiered in fall.
- The only season where Cogburn does not speak.
- The only season to not feature an animal-focused episode.
- The only season where Gabriella only appears in one episode.
- The only season to not feature Gregly (he is introduced next season).
- The only season so far to not end off with a special episode.
