"The Move" is the 18th episode of Season 3 and the 134th episode of Big City Greens overall. It is the continuation to "Dirt Jar" and Part 2 of the transition from Big City to Smalton for the second half of the season.
Synopsis
The Greens struggle with some big changes.[4]
Plot
Word spreads throughout Big City that the Greens are heading back to the country. Bill, Tilly, and Cricket proceed to pack their belongings while Gramma Alice chooses to stay behind to look after her house and to make sure her investment at Gloria + Green Café is secure. Gloria also says goodbye while Remy arrives and reveals that he is coming along too, similar to a transfer student. Nancy arrives with Phoenix and her RV so that she can come along as well. The Greens formally say goodbye to all their friends in Big City as they head back to the country.
After driving a ways, the Greens and Remy finally arrive at the country home. As they inspect the interior, Tilly feels that something is off, though she cannot quite place it. A wild deer, that somehow snuck into the house, barges through the living room and crashes through the window. Bill tells everyone that he will fix the window, despite his promise of initially relaxing on his porch swing, and begins to notice other problems. Cricket, Tilly, and Remy head upstairs where Cricket discovers that he cannot expertly navigate his usual escape tree and that the Donaldsons, two squirrels that live nearby, do not seem to recognize Tilly. They then resolve to look for their tree fort in the woods.
Meanwhile, Nancy finishes unpacking, only to discover that Bill has started to go into "fixing mode" and is trying to fix every minor issue or problem with the house. She attempts to get him to lay back and relax on his swing bench, but he instead begins to nitpick that as well. Nancy proceeds to take Bill's tools away and locks him out of the house. Shortly afterwards, Bill breaks back into the house and fixes the door in quick succession and starts climbing the walls and writing to-dos on his arms. While trying to "fix" something, he accidentally destroys the entire living room.
Out in the woods, Cricket, Tilly, and Remy try to find the tree fort. Slowly, Cricket discovers that he can no longer navigate in the woods and his immunity to poison oak has disappeared. Tilly tries to communicate with the woodland animals, but all of them see her as a monster and chases the kids away. They manage to locate some familiar surroundings and find the tree fort, only to find that weathering has destroyed much of it. Cricket and Tilly are saddened that nothing is the same, but Remy tells them that things change and that they change as well, but rather than being sad, they can learn to live with it and gain experience, something that Bill learns back at home.
The kids decide to rebuild the fort, as the wood is still good, and Nancy finally gets Bill to calm down so that the two of them can relax and see the sunset from their porch. The kids finally return after their long day and relax with the adults. They get a call from Alice who asks if things are the same as they were when they left. They answer in the negative, but tell her that that is okay and that they will feel right at home eventually.
