Tilly's face of hope

Tilly, cheerful and silly.

This article describes the history of Tilly Green, Bill and Nancy Green's firstborn child, Alice Green's granddaughter, Cricket Green's older sister, the Green family's elder child and only daughter.

Early life[]

Nancy kisses baby Cricket

Toddler Tilly with her newborn brother.

12 years prior to the events of the show, Tilly Green was born to Bill and Nancy Green. Two years later, she would get a little brother of her own.

Tilly once slept with Phoenix and had a treat of her own. ("Phoenix Rises")

At one point, once Tilly came of age, she fought a wild horse and tamed it, naming it "Frederico", and completes her Green family rite of passage.

A while after Bill divorced Nancy, the farm started suffering debt due to the success of Mass Dairy Factory Farms; Nancy tried to release the cows as payback, but got arrested. As a result, the farm was foreclosed, and Tilly, along with Cricket and Bill, decided to move to the original Green house with Gramma Alice in Big City.

Present life[]

Season 1[]

There's so much happenin' around here

Tilly taken aback by the view.

Tilly is part of the Green family who moves into Big City. Along with her brother Cricket, she is taken aback by the beauty of the city, resulting in the children disobeying their father and sneaking out of the Kludge to take in the sights. When Bill gets out to check on them, the truck gets towed away due to parking in a no parking zone. The Greens, including Tilly, had to enter the car pound to save the car from destruction, and they arrived at their Gramma Alice's house the following day. ("Welcome Home")

Some time after the move, Cricket and Tilly were mowing the lawn when they decide to go to other places, including a golf course and the middle of the road. They ride the tractor into their yard, crashing it in the process. Tilly is supportive of Cricket's idea of launching a chicken into space. She also makes a friend in Remy Remington, and witnesses the disaster unfolding around her as more chickens are launched into the air. ("Space Chicken")

On the way home to have their annual Steak Night, Tilly shows excitement in going to the Big City subway. She makes allies with a pack of rats, who come back to assist her later. She also comforts a saddened Cricket, who gains the determination to get the steaks back from 5th Street station. ("Steak Night")

Tilly finds a best friend in Andromeda.

In search for a friend, Tilly bumped into conspiracy bumpkin Andromeda at the park. Tilly makes up a conspiracy that gargoyle statues on a building will come to life at night, despite obviously not being true. When this backfires and Andromeda almost falls off the building, barely saved by her, Tilly believes she has lost a potential friend; disproved when Andromeda tells her to meet up, believing that Officer Keys is an alien. ("Gargoyle Gals")

When any of her pets, including Saxon, don't want to play tea party with her, Tilly comes across a cat named Anoush. Deeming him beautiful, she decides to play with him. Little to her knowledge, the cat is actually Mr. Grigorian's; an enemy of her Gramma Alice. When both her Gramma and Grigorian realize that Tilly is playing with Anoush, she tries to hide it, only to fail in the garage; the latter sees Anoush being taken away by Mr. Grigorian. Tilly successfully infiltrates and extracts Anoush from the apartment, but upon seeing Anoush is missing, Mr. Grigorian cries, as Anoush was there to keep him company for all his friends and loved ones had died. Tilly apologizes to Mr. Grigorian for taking Anoush away, and sadly goes off; however, Mr. Grigorian allows the girl to see Anoush, holding no contempt. ("Forbidden Feline")

On the day Bill is to make his special harvest stew but doesn't have any paprika to make it, he entrusts Tilly to go to the store and get it for him, which she agrees. Cricket and Gramma detest against this in favor of watching a pie in the window despite neither of them wanting to go earlier, and try switching jobs with Tilly, but she refuses. When the duo try to beat her to the store and get the paprika first, problems ensue and she beats them and checks out. They also mishear her "Paprika for Papa" mantra and end up getting a papaya instead, so they switch it with the paprika while she's not looking. However, Tilly knew of the switch, so she hides the paprika in her pocket so they steal the empty jar instead. And in Cricket and Gramma's absence, the pie is stolen by Cogburn the rooster, but nevertheless redeem themselves by retrieving it and everyone finally enjoys their dinner. ("Harvest Dinner")

On a trip to the Big City Community Center, Tilly's first view of the place is the trophy case. Admiring them, Tilly resolves to get one for herself. The stern and harsh methods of Community Sue oppose the soft-spoken and nice ones of Tilly, creating a disparity. However, when told that if she doesn't put in the effort, she won't win, Tilly fills with determination, working out and putting aside her cheerful and silly disposition for a serious one.

This doesn't last; in a boxing match with a significantly stronger kid, Tilly hesitates to hurt her opponent, wanting to negotiate instead. The opponent manages to get a hit on her, and Sue tells Tilly she won't win the trophy unless she fights. Her initial determinance (shown by her opting a stern face and holding her fists up) soon slips away into one of hesitation as she flinches.

Sue insists that Tilly beat her opponent up; the girl punches her opponent, but is actually inches away from her face. Tilly decides to change her tactics, opting to dodge instead. When explaining to Sue her reasoning, Tilly's opponent passes out of exhaustion from punching too much. Sue grants Tilly her trophy, saying she has won.

However, all of this and Bill and the rest of the family left her behind. ("Winner Winner")

Season 2[]

When Tilly comes across Remy's tablet that he has left behind, she is entranced by a playlist full of cat videos; inspired by an inaccurate grouting video, she and Bill decide to make their own.

However, Tilly strays off topic when she encounters Dirtbag doing his business, and when she brings the cat into the video, he bites Bill, which Tilly edits into a psychedelic video edit. Unimpressed by the video, Bill goes off to re-grout the rest of the kitchen himself; feeling bad for him, Tilly decided to re-edit the video, combining both of their ideas, complete with a bit of Gramma's near the tail end of the video. ("Bad Influencer")

On Father's Day, Tilly is making an elaborate gift for Bill called "Potato Papa", which consists of a popsicle stick sculpture of Bill's head with potatoes for the eyes. Cricket has made his own gift, Cricket Coupons, which consist of menial favors he wouldn't want to do, so they are never cashed in. Tilly disagrees with Cricket's present, thinking they're not real gifts and doesn't like them as much as he likes hers, so they get in a spat with each other to prove Bill hates Cricket's gifts. When Bill admits he does hate every Cricket-related gift and calls them "weird", Tilly is shocked when Bill mentions her gift as one of them; it is that moment she believes Bill has secretly hated her gifts and decides to destroy them as revenge. Bill stops her and admits he does like her gifts after all, because they come from the heart with the sole purpose of making someone happy. Tilly apologizes and Bill decides to cash in the Cricket Coupons he saved, much to Cricket's displeasure. ("The Gifted")

When a man calls her a "baby", Tilly starts to pursue different "trendy" looks, eventually deciding to keep her original looks, but piercing her ears ("Tilly Style")

On a trip to Li'l Ladies to celebrate Saxon's "birthday", Tilly meets high-profile girl Cantaloupe Sinclair and her friends Willow and Ashton. Tilly expresses her desire to sit with the rich kids, and eventually gets a seat. However, Cantaloupe reveals she manipulated Tilly to sit with her, and she also manipulates her friends. Enraged, Tilly stands up to Cantaloupe and she and Nancy instigates a large-scale food fight. By the end of the episode, Ashton comes up to her and offers to have tea parties at any time she wants. ("Dolled Up")

A peaceful transition of power

Tilly is now "Community Tilly".

On another trip to the Big City Community Center, Community Sue appoints Tilly as the overseer of checking out equipment (initially interpreting this as being in charge of the entire community center) while Sue watches Cricket and Gabriella painting a mural. Tilly goes as far as to claim managerial duties, adding her own improvements. However, these improvements are bad in the long run. ("Gabriella's Fella")

When Bill denies them the permission to go to the nearby street fair because their "production costs" are running low, Tilly, Cricket and Gramma are forced to use their imaginations; unlike Cricket, who quickly grows bored, Tilly is able to keep herself entertained by either telling stories from a storyboard or using her imagination. When Cricket thinks up a way to save money at the fair (they go, but not buy anything), Bill lets them go after all. ("Cheap Show")

When Tilly sees her family has major flaws, she has Gwendolyn Zapp hook them up to her newest invention, the "Flawless You!" supercomputer, and after she zaps the family's inherent flaws, they start to act somewhat off. When Gwendolyn sees this, she deduces Tilly has a flaw and tries to zap her, too, but it fails. Tilly scrambles to save the real, flawed family and barely escapes the collapsing cyberspace within the computer, and continues to embrace her family the way they are because their flaws make them special. ("Green Mirror")

When Cricket brings home sought-after tickets to the premiere show The Barnacle Bouquet, he wants to bring Tilly and Remy, but he soon faces a roadblock when he realizes he only has two tickets. To gain his favor, Tilly and Remy do things for him, but Cricket eventually decides nobody gets the ticket. At the park, they expose Cricket's potential deceit, gaining the other kids' favor. When Cricket is called up to the stage, he scrambles to get Tilly and Remy into the stage; after making up with them, he sacrifices his ticket for Tilly and Remy's fun. ("Cricket's Tickets")

We're puttin' on a show!

Tilly and Remy are about to put on their own show.

During a visit to Times Circle, Tilly and Remy, seeing the bored theatre-goers waiting for the line to see a play, put on their own show. Throughout the day, they try to cater to as much people's expectations as possible, but the play becomes to cluttered up. When Tilly overhears Cricket telling the superhero cosplayers to be themselves, she decides to restart the show from the beginning, without changes; while this doesn't catch the audience's eye, a woman in particular likes the play. ("Times Circle")

After Gramma got cataracts surgery, she is unable to see properly until she recovers, though she insists on doing a routine she has done for years. Cricket and Tilly shadow Gramma and help her do her routine; this comes to a head when Gramma heads into a seedy elders' bar and challenges Gertie, a frequenter, to a game of darts. As Gramma flubs her shot, Cricket and Tilly are stuck between a rock and a hard place, Cricket and Tilly are forced to reveal themselves. Gramma admits that she isn't invincible as she thought, and call it a draw (though she nabs the prize and makes a run for it). ("Super Gramma!")

As with Cricket, Tilly is invited to Remy's birthday, which takes place at Snuggly Pete's House of Pizza. While finding a game to play, she becomes infatuated with the cute moles at the whack-a-mole machine; she is horrified when Bill shows her the proper way to play. They argue about it; when Cricket and Remy make up for the former's mistakes, Tilly and Bill make up too. ("Present Tense")

When Cricket and Tilly are feeling bored, Nancy lifts their spirits with their very own dirt bike. Tilly, naming the bike "Geraldine", decides to "bond" with it a'la a horse, then is about to ride it, but Cricket takes the handlebars and speeds off, leaving Tilly in the dust. ("Hurt Bike")

Tilly talking in sign language

At the library, Tilly suggests the Greens use sign language.

Tilly is reading a book, and Bill takes her and the other Greens to the library to show Cricket that it's fun to read and find a book that fits his interests. When it is found the librarian is very strict and they can't talk, Tilly, fluent in sign language, recommends her family use sign language whenever they need to speak, which they have no knowledge of, though they are able to catch on. She suggests Cricket get into her fantasy book series, but he is easily bored by it because of his overly-stimulus brain. He eventually does find a book he likes, a graphic novel, but forgets the restriction against noise and is almost caught, so Bill takes the heat for him, leaving him to be beat up and banned from all libraries across the globe. Nevertheless, Tilly and the other Greens are glad that Cricket has finally found a book perfect for him. ("Quiet Please")

And yet...it just..

"And yet... it just... did."

Tilly is brought to Cricket's "Bring Your Family to Work Day", where he has the family work in his place while he takes a break. At the same time, Chip Whistler arrives and tries to drive the café out of business. Cricket and the Greens, Tilly included, who no longer take Chip seriously, know that his plan will fail, and it does. The following day, Tilly is not keen on working anymore upon realizing the experience was all just a set-up so the family could do Cricket's job for him, and scolds her brother for such; the day worsens when Chip and his Wholesome Squad kick the Greens and Gloria out, having fired Cricket and Gloria and taken Big Coffee for his own and setting his eyes on the Greens' house down for his expansion plan, threatening the family's legacy as they are left on the sidewalk worrying for what's going to happen next. ("Chipwrecked")

Tilly confused about Chip's email

Tilly receives Chip's fake petition on Bill's phone after Nancy forwards it.

Shortly after Chip buys out Big Coffee, Tilly pays witness to the destruction of the Elkins Apartment and the Big Coffee building, and the week-long construction of the Wholesome Foods Mega-Store, with their house being the next target. She, along with Cricket and Gramma, try to cause chaos in the Mega-Store, only to be kicked out by a familiar face (who turns out to be Gloria, who had gotten a job at Wholesome Foods). She then tries to go to the mayor with Nancy, but their mission to oppose the demolition is in vain as Nancy is arrested again and the kids are kicked out.

Tilly and Gramma armed with corncobs

Tilly helps Gramma protect their home from Chip's goons.

Midnight eventually arrives, and Chip has arrived with a wrecking crew. His bulldozers are delayed by Gramma's defenses, while Tilly watches. She and Gramma hold the line against a pack of "runners" by shooting corncobs from bows. Eventually, they run out of ammo, but Vasquez drops into the battle in time to save their skins. As Vasquez and Gramma defend the house, Bill continues to put their belongings outside.

Tilly's speech broadcast to a TV store

Till rallies all of Big City to fight for what's right.

Tilly pushes all the boxes back inside, and launches to a heroic speech about her resistance against their impending fate, which is broadcasted via Channel 11 News to the citizens of Big City. As Bill runs back inside, Tilly, in an act of heroism and fearlessness, declares she won't let anyone touch their house, as Bill comes back with a bag of chicken feed, which takes down the "riders". Bill admits Tilly is right, and with a new resolve, defends the house. There is one brief moment where Chip's workers actually reach the house, but the moment is cut when Cricket announces to everyone he has the proof Chip's petition is fake. However, said evidence is shredded by a helicopter.

With all hope gone and the Mayor declaring the Greens' house is to be destroyed, the Greens' friends join forces in a collective resistance against said order. Seeing this show of resistance, the Mayor speaks up and orders Wholesome Foods to clean up the mess and return everything back to normal, and bans Chip from Big City. Seeing his plan backfire right in front of him, Chip, who has had enough, tries to murder Cricket and eventually the Greens. However, his attempted murder fails extravagantly; Cricket jumps from the roof and Bill safely catches him, and the chopper skids get caught in some power lines, stopping just mere inches from Cricket's face. Cricket declares Chip doesn't belong in Big City after all as he is flung away to the night sky, never to be seen again. ("Chipocalypse Now")

Gloria's our mommy!

"Gloria's our mommy!"

A few days after the battle for Elkins Street, the Greens' house is now home to Gloria, who is unable to pay her rent due to losing both her jobs. Tilly notices this, and with Cricket, tries to cheer her up. As they lead Gloria upstairs to get fresh air, Gloria drops her phone, and Tilly answers it; it is revealed to be her parents, who are calling to check up on her. They are revealed to be in Big City for business and are going to visit Gloria to check up on her. Gloria is in a panic because she, for the past few years, had been lying to them about her success while she is in fact failing.

The Sato parents arrive at the Greens' house, which is labeled as "Gloria's house" thanks to Cricket. Gloria and the Green kids are able to put up a ruse, though Gramma's appearance and Bill's running away (earlier, she claimed she had married Bill) says enough; her life is failing.

However, the appearance of Remy in his limo has Gloria changing gears and visiting the Remington Manor, which she claims is her "second home". The Sato parents are impressed by this show of extravagance, and when Mr. Sato reveals he finally wants to brag about Gloria, she drops the act and reveals she was lying and her life is indeed a failure. However, her parents understand this, and later that night, the Greens invite the Sato parents over for dinner, where they reveal they are proud of Gloria. ("'Rent Control")

Tilly subconsciously asks Angela to buy

When the Greens' stand is on the verge of bankruptcy, Tilly's suggestion to improve sales is by making a personal connection via eye contact. She sets her sight on one particular customer, Angela, and proceeds to hypnotize her into connecting with her so she can buy the produce. She succeeds and puts her in a trance, but they literally connect when their eyeballs touch, snapping her out of it. Gloria saves the day when she learns the family never gone social, and teaches them how to advertise their stand on social media, which makes the family even popular than before. ("Sellouts")

Tilly sees Gloria using an app called SnapperChat, but is not quite keen on it as people are into DingDong now. Gloria decides she's too old for the internet and passes her phone to Tilly, who sets up a DingDong account and proceeds to livestream Phoenix. When no viewers pull in, Tilly vows to keep it a secret, but Phoenix immediately sees through the lie, and Tilly feels deeply hurt for deceiving her own dog. However, her sorrows subside upon realizing that she herself was a viewer all along, and feels forgiven. Tilly then relinquishes the phone and her account vowing not to let the internet ruin her relationship with Phoenix again; it's unknown if she still has it or gave it back to Gloria afterward. ("Ding Dongers")

Season 3[]
