"Time Crisis" is the 22nd episode of Season 2 and the 80th episode overall of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Remy's plan for his whole life is thrown into question when he is unprepared for a violin recital.
Plot[]
At the mansion, Remy is playing the violin when Cricket comes in with Vasquez. Cricket invites him to go to Burger Clown, but Remy turns it down as he has a violin recital to do. He says the recital is the key to his future, as documented in a book of what he needs to do in his life (specifically step 1,372). This specific recital is the stepping stone to his vision of his future, to be successful as a ranch dressing mogul. As he proclaims the single sheet of music is the key to his future, it unfolds, revealing another 5 pages that he hasn't studied yet. Remy and Vasquez freak out about this, with the former terrified his future will blow, and the latter terrified he has to do service in the Special Forces.
When Remy challenges Cricket to think about his future, he lays it out. In 20 years: Everything will be futuristic, he'll still stay with Bill, holographic Gramma and multiple Phoenix's in the Green house, while Tilly is living with sea otters, and he'll still work at Big Coffee, now under Gloria. However Remy tells him all this doesn't affect his life plans. He then rapid-fires alternative futures: stunt actor, illegal firework vendor, and banker. However, these have downsides too. Just then, the bell rings: the recital is soon.
On the way to the recital, Remy starts to have a vision where he is confronted by living violins, including a king violin who drops him into a sea of failure. Cricket wakes him up just in time; they have arrived. Once his turn is up, Remy nails the first passage, but flunks the rest; he does an improv instead and runs out in panic. When Cricket and Vasquez catch up to Remy, they spot him drinking ranch dressing on the curb, saying he wants a "head start".
Just then, the announcer runs out to Remy and says he got third chair; in other words, third place. Remy realizes that he has no ill feelings towards this, saying it is actually okay and even if he had the moment in his head the entire time, reality is tame. Even if he didn't get first chair, Remy says his future will be exciting, and Cricket happily agrees. The episode ends as they envision themselves as holograms like in Cricket's from earlier.
